Call for Abstracts

We are delighted to announce the Call for Abstracts for the third edition of the "Hardware Reverse Engineering Workshop" (HARRIS 2025) to be held on March 17 and 18, 2025, in Bochum, Germany. Following the success of last years' workshops, we invite researchers, professionals, and enthusiasts from academia, industry, and government to contribute presentations to this engaging event. We encourage you to share this information with members of your network who may be interested in presenting.

Presentations may cover novel, previously published, or work-in-progress research, as well as practical case studies or field reports. Presentations will be 20 minutes each, split into 15 minutes for the talk and 5 minutes for Q&A.

Scope:

HARRIS 2025 aims to explore and advance the field of hardware reverse engineering, covering a broad spectrum of related topics including, but not limited to:

  • Sample Preparation, Imaging, and Image Processing
  • Non-invasive and Semi-invasive Techniques for Hardware Reverse Engineering
  • FPGA Bitstream Format Reverse Engineering
  • Netlist Reconstruction from ICs and FPGAs, including Error Detection and Correction Mechanisms
  • Netlist Reverse Engineering Techniques
  • Obfuscation and Anti-Reverse-Engineering Techniques
  • Hardware Assurance and Trust

  • (Real-World) Hardware Reverse Engineering Case Studies
  • Applications of Machine Learning for Hardware Reverse Engineering
  • Benchmarks for Hardware Reverse Engineering
  • Open-Source Hardware
  • Hardware Reverse Engineering Tools and Frameworks
  • Human Factors and Professional Training in Hardware Reverse Engineering

Submission Guidelines and Selection Process:

Prospective speakers are invited to submit a title and an abstract for a presentation related to the aforementioned topics. Abstracts should be informative and concise, with a maximum length of 300 words.

Each abstract submission will be reviewed by at least three members of the HARRIS 2025 PC. Abstracts will be judged based on whether they fit the scope of the conference, as well as their scientific rigor and clarity. New research results may be given priority over previously published work. As HARRIS 2025 has no proceedings, presented work can still be submitted to other venues.

Both title and abstract of accepted presentations will be featured on the HARRIS 2025 website alongside speaker information.

Important Dates:

  • Abstract submission deadline: January 12, 2025 (AoE)
  • Notification of acceptance: January 29, 2025 (AoE)

Submission Instructions:

Please submit your abstracts here. Include the title of your submission, speaker(s) and affiliations, and any related documents or sources (if applicable).

Speakers are not automatically registered as workshop participants. We will notify you as soon as registration opens in January.

We look forward to receiving your abstracts and welcoming you to HARRIS 2025 in Bochum.
